• Library Planning Update: Staff and Community Spaces

Here’s an update about our third meeting with the architects working on the library proposal.

In general, a library has community, collection, staff and unassigned spaces. Unassigned spaces include restrooms and mechanical operations. The architects facilitated a discussion focused on community and spaces.

  • A game, a story, our future

Have you thought about what our future will be like, one year from today, ten years from today, or a hundred years from today? APL is hosting an interactive installation designed by MIT graduate student, Libby Falck, called the Community Futures Game. Take part in this game to collaboratively create a story for the future of our community, using playful prompts and working with other players. Check it out July 19-31 in the library lobby!

  • Memory Cafe Special Guest

Memory Cafe participants were treated to a special guest appearance by Faith, the therapy dog from Carolina Manor. Bob Archer, Faith's handler, helped the group celebrate Independence Day!

  • Beau Thomas: Artist-in-Residence

We're excited to announce our latest artist-in-residence, Beau Thomas. Beau was born and raised in Green Bay. He is an artist that specializes in murals, paintings and graphic design.

Beau has completed over 80 murals, including projects for Red Bull, Badger State Brewing Company and the Green Bay Area Public School District. His work has been on display at the Neville Public Museum, UWGB's Lawton Gallery and the Voices Gallery in Dubuque, Iowa.

Beau's art will be on display in our lower level gallery from July 2 to September 28. Beau will also offer special classes and workshops on July 18. Check out the schedule below.

  • Library Planning: Meeting Two

Here’s a quick update of where we are with the mixed-use library proposal project. I'd also like to take a moment to address the topic on everyone’s minds…parking!

Last week the architects returned to work on the mixed-use library proposal. They worked with a group of city staff, library trustees and neighborhood partners.

We viewed a draft report from their first visit on June 6 and 7. This report will be available to the public when it is complete. It reflects the activities and input of over 150 community members.
